Charity Project Summer 2010

Thought it was about time to attempt a post on my own without a lot of swearing!!!!

I have a charity called Tendertotes and Heavenly Dreams which has been going since 2005. This all came about through the fan club of Josh Groban (are you surprised?). We make tote bags and pillow cases for Shriners Hospitals for Children. There are 22 Shriners Hospitals across the country and we choose 3-5 different hospitals each summer. When a child is admitted to the hospital they receive an 11x14 tote bag with a draw string. In that tote bag is some kind of a toy and toiletries to make their stay more comfortable. I have 15-20 ladies scattered across the states that sew for me. It amazes me to see what these ladies can do. It touches my heart to see how something as simple as a pillow case can put such a big smile on a child's face!!

We added another little branch to our charity called Covered with Love. These ladies crochet beanies and blankets for different children's hospitals. The Josh Groban Foundation has been gracious enough to also donate stuffed beanie babies. Since 2005 we have donated over 32,000 items to different hospitals and put lots of smiles on children's faces. Next to my family this project is my pride and joy. Here are a few photo's of what we make.
